Monteverdi small hamlet in the green not far from the sea

This little village recently restored with great attention is situated amongst the woods of the Monteverdi Marittimo hills and near two important natural reserves, that of Monterufoli-Caselli and that of Berignone-Tatti.  Three farm houses have been divided up to form four comfortable apartments.  Therefore offering a real welcome of unforgettable moments of relax surrounded by nature itself.  Walking routes in the surrounding woods, along the banks of the river Massera and along the footpaths within the Monterufoli-Caselli natural reserve.  Not to mention the possibility of enjoying precious moments of peace at the side of the swimming pool whilst the children play freely on the grass .  Bookings can be made in many ways:  the entire village (25 p.l.), the entire main country-house (12 p.l.) or single apartments.  It’s the ideal place for a holiday with friends, a family occasion or a special party.

The torrent Massera flows slowly through the property, a footpath winds alongside the river permitting one to walk in the freshness of the woods.  Here there are also picnic areas.  A natural dam has created a small basin with a little characteristic waterfall where in certain periods of the year one can go swimming.  It only takes 25 minutes, from the village, to reach Marina di Castagneto, Cecina and other towns along the Etruscan coast.  Apart from the magnificent naturalistic oasis of Bolgheri and the beautiful coastal pinewoods of Cecina and Donoratico, this part of the Tuscany coastline also embraces:  the wooded hillsides of Bibbona, Bolgheri and Monte Calve where the Mediterranean vegetation alternates with the beautiful chestnut trees.

In the surrounding area medieval villages of Castagneto Carducci, Suvereto and Campiglia Marittima with their city walls and their fortified buildings;  the area of Monte Calvi where the remains of smelting-furnaces from Roman times are testimony of the antique activity of the extraction and mineral production ; the Etruscan, Roman and Medieval relics of Volterra;  the headland area of Piombino, the splendid Baratti
Gulf and the necropolis of Populonia.  The only Etruscan city born as a base of sea- trade  and for the production of metals extracted from the nearby island of Elba.  The beautiful naturalistic park of Rimigliano in San Vincenzo is also nearby.

Finally, adding a pleasant bonus to the holiday, the gastronomy of the area which is able to combine the two souls of Tuscany food:  meat and fish, country and salty water.  The fusion of these different aspects, respecting the traditions, allows one to taste these great dishes accompanied by excellent wines from the Val di Cornia and those which we find along the sides of the Wine Road of the Etruscan Coast of which the more well-known are:  Bolgheri wines, L’Ornellaia, the Sassicaia, the Guado al Tasso, Michele Satta, Guido Alberto, Le Difese etc…
